Musical Trio Major Lazer throws enchanting concert, leaves Ugandans in suspense

Evoke Nights ready to set an enchanting season finale

Having hit the Ugandan social calendar in September 2017, Evoke Night will come to end on Thursday, September 27.

The closing episode of the Tusker Lite sponsored event will showcase acts from all the previous Evoke performances this season and also feature art through performances of poetry, music, dance, spoken word, vocal play, acapella among others.

The line-up will include names like Evon, Izaya the Composer, J-Watts the composer, Lus the poet, Heights the Preacher, the Evoke dancers, Nobel the Beat Boxer who will be complemented by DJ mashups in a fast-paced high tempo production that is expected to literally blow revelers minds.

According to Timothy Bukenya, the Creator of Evoke, the nights have built a reputation for delivering outstanding, breathtaking and original performances over the past five episodes of this season.

“We will be pulling out all the stops at the finale, with the most riveting performers to have graced the Evoke stage in a masterful two and a half hour explosion of entertainment,” he said.

His words were re-echoed by Grace Namutebi, Brand Manager, Premium Beers at Uganda Breweries Limited who acknowledge the great lengths Evoke goes through to create original content to keep the industry running.

“We are proud to have been a part of this journey, providing a platform where young people can express themselves in a fun environment,” Namutebi noted.

All ready for Royal Ascot Goat Races in Munyonyo

The goat races is on this Saturday 25th August and will entail six races over the course of the day, with each race featuring 10 goats. Anyone can sponsor a race, or buy a goat to participate in a race. The proceeds generated from the races will then go to a selected charity.

Tickets to the Goat Races are going for Shs50,000.

‘The Goat Races were easily the most popular event on Uganda’s social calendar for all the time they were held, so we wanted to bring that amazing experience back with fun-filled activities everyone can participate in,” said Sheena Ruparelia, the event coordinator earlier in July while launching the event.

It was power, pure class and money as the niece of former premier John Patrick Amama Mbabazi introduced Andile Ramaphosa in royal-like traditional marriage ceremony dubbed “kuhingira”.

The glamorous customary wedding ceremony was graced by the presence of all high dignitaries in the land. These included H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni along with the first lady Janet Museveni, Chief Justice Bart Magunda Katureebe, Bank of Uganda governor Emanuel Tusiime Mutebile, businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, Buganda Katikilo Charles Peter Mayiga, current serving Prime minister RT Hon Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda among very many others.


President Museveni was later called to usher in his South African counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa and his wife. The event which took place at Amama’s residence in Kololo will go down in history as Uganda’s finest in 2018 and perhaps second to the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markel.

Speaking at the event, Amama Mbabazi said; “It is obvious that Andile and Bridget are in love and you can smell it from a distance. For a marriage to be successful, you need to fall in love with the same person every day.”

The family of Cyril Ramaphosa has fulfilled all conditions we put for you to get the hand in marriage of Bridget,” he added.

“We have taught her all good behaviours. Teach her and correct her where she is wrong. Take her.”

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni: “I wish Andile & Bridget a happy marriage. Don’t have so many children, that’s recklessness. It was back then where people feared that children would die & decided to give birth to many children but now you’re sure they won’t die.”
